Paramount Pictures has released the official trailer for ‘Mr. Irrelevant,’ the inspiring true story of NFL player John Tuggle, played by David Corenswet.
Directed by Jonathan Levine, the film follows Tuggle, the last player selected in the final round of the 1983 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. Given the nickname “Mr. Irrelevant”, Tuggle entered the league with seemingly little expectation placed upon him, but went on to defy the odds both on and off the field.
The trailer introduces Tuggle as he faces the enormous challenge of proving himself in professional football while navigating a new chapter in his personal life. His journey brings him into the orbit of first-year Giants head coach Bill Parcells, played by Michael Shannon, as well as a newfound love, played by Isabel May.
For Tuggle, being the final pick isn’t the end of the road. It’s the beginning of a fight to prove that determination, hope and perseverance can overcome even the greatest challenges.
The film explores Tuggle’s relationship with Parcells, his teammates and the people closest to him as he attempts to carve out his place in a sport where every player is fighting to survive.
