To mark the release of the joyous documentary Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger, we had the pleasure of speaking to its creator and writer Steven Knight, as he reflects on a project that took even him (and the band) by surprise. The BAFTA and Oscar-nominated Peaky Blinders creator opened up about the “tidal wave” of emotion the Gallagher brothers’ reunion unleashed across generations, his deliberate decision to steer the film away from conflict and drama, and the fan testimonies came gave this film its emotional core.

He also speaks about the power of music, and of course given he’s the man helming the next James Bond film, we couldn’t help but ask what he makes about relentless rumour mill surrounding the next 007…
