Unlikely comedic pairing Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell are set to grace the screen in the forthcoming sequel to Daddy’s Home, reprising their roles as competitive fathers vying for their offspring’s affections. Now, in this sequel, it’s Christmas time and as the children must decide if they’d rather spend the holiday season with their real dad or their step-dad, the two come up with a plan – they should all celebrate Christmas together. An invite that worryingly extends to their own respective fathers, played by Mel Gibson and John Lithgow.

To mark the film’s release on November 22nd, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Wahlberg and Ferrell to discuss this sequel, as they explain how much input they had into the casing of their dads. We also ask which of the families they feel more similar to in real life, and whether or not they go out of their way to embarrass their own children.

Finally, since this is a movie about dads, we couldn’t help but ask the pair a few dad jokes of our own. The aim of the game was for them to not laugh. Turns out it was a rather easy job. Maybe next time we’ll hire a different joke-writer…
