Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel is understandably one of the most anticipated blockbusters of the year, with perhaps the biggest potential for any movie in 2013.
The first teaser trailers launched last summer, giving us an awesome first look at the upcoming movie, each narrated by one of Clark’s two fathers. And that was followed by the epic first full-length trailer, arriving just in time for Christmas.
And with Man of Steel’s summer release date fast approaching, Warner Bros. will be gearing up their campaign in the coming weeks. And they’re kicking things off with a brilliant first TV spot.
In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.
Henry Cavill takes the lead here. And he’s joined by an awesome cast, led by Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne.
Snyder is directing from a script by David S. Goyer (the Batman trilogy), who co-wrote the story with Christopher Nolan.
Snyder has previously suggested that the film could well be the beginning of a new DC Cinematic Universe, opening up an immense new franchise for Warner Bros. Early reports suggest that the studio might be waiting to see how Man of Steel fares at the box office before moving ahead with the likes of a Justice League movie, and so if you want to see more, then you’d better make sure you go out and see Snyder’s latest (and see it often) when it hits this summer.
