Comic-Con brought with it an awesome teaser poster last weekend, and now the first teaser trailer has made its way online, in both its forms, and you already know to expect brilliance.
“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.”
Snyder is directing from a script by David S. Goyer (the Batman trilogy), who co-wrote the story with the great Christopher Nolan himself, who also serves as producer.
Alongside Henry Cavill in the lead, we can look forward to an awesome cast headed up by Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, and Michael Shannon as General Zod.
They could have gone for an all-out action first teaser, but I love that they didn’t. This is beautiful.
Man of Steel will be hitting regular and IMAX theatres on 14th June, 2013. Smart money says this is going to be one of the biggest films of next year, and it’s easy to see why from this first trailer. Enjoy.
