This summer, Warner Bros. officially announced that they were moving forward with their Justice League film, having quietly hired Will Beall (Gangster Squad) to pen the script last year.

The project, which is the DC equivalent of Marvel’s The Avengers, has had a handful of rumours surrounding it since – most recently, with talk of Armie Hammer circling the role of Batman – and now the studio reportedly hopes to shoot the film next year, with an eye for a release in the summer of 2015.

Depending on exactly when in the summer, and the most likely option would be July, it would put it squarely between Marvel’s The Avengers 2 (due out on 1st May, 2015) and Ant-Man (recently set for 6th November, 2015).

Warner Bros. finally won a lengthy legal battle yesterday over the rights to Superman, which will allow it to continue to use the character in any sequels to their upcoming Man of Steel, as well as the Justice League film.

With the legal battle now won, the studio is accelerating plans on the upcoming ensemble film, the LA Times report,

“according to a knowledgeable person not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.”

Though the line-up hasn’t been officially announced, it’s expected that the roster would comprise of Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, and the Martian Manhunter.

So far, there aren’t any films scheduled for July 2015, and if that is indeed the month the studio are looking to plant their flag, the odds are pretty good everyone else will stay clear of that week (and the weeks following) in the years to come.

If the studio is hoping to shoot next year, they’ll naturally be looking to fill the director’s chair very soon, along with the cast. With any luck, we’ll have word on that before the year’s end. More as we get it.
