Ryan Reynolds took it upon himself yesterday to reveal the first two images of Josh Brolin as Cable directly from the set of Deadpool 2 which is currently in production in Vancouver.

Taking to social media, Reynolds, in true Reynolds fashion, posted one of the images stating “We all have that one, grumpy, heavily armed Uncle from the future”.

As we can see from the images, Brolin has gone through an amazing, almost unrecognisable transformation to play Cable. After spending months in the gym working out, Brolin is looking ripped and extremely menacing for his role as Deadpool’s nemesis, he certainly gives Reynolds ever so slight six pack a run for his money. Cable also known as Nathan Summers is a time-travelling mutant with telekinetic and telepathic abilities and, although not the closest of buddies, are often seen fighting together in the Marvel comics.

Recently, the Deadpool creator Rob Leifield has compared the pairing of the two characters in the sequel to that of the Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, Rush Hour.  The Hollywood Reporter spoke to Leifield on Monday after the image revelation and he stated “This is a great! No one is having a better day than me! Let me assure you!”  He went on to say “I’ve seen when fans give their thumbs-up and their thumbs-down. Their condemnation and their praise. Josh as Cable, it’s been 100 percent euphoria, praise, excitement,”

With David Leitch at the helm of the much awaited sequel and Simon Kinberg in the producer’s chair, Deadpool 2 has a cast of Reynolds and Brolin, as well as Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) as luck-manipulating mutant Domino, Hunt for the Wilderpeople’s Julian Dennison, Shiori Kutsana, Jack Kesy, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Stefan Kapicic as the voice of Colossus all returning.

Deadpool 2 is set for a summer 2018 release.
