Having Michael Shannon in your film is a sure way to get me interested, his turn in Jeff Nichols’ Take Shelter proving to be the tipping point ‘from interested and curious’ to ‘out right fan’, and while I fully intend to join countless others kneeling before Zod when Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel comes around it’s the less obvious roles I’ll be looking out for. One such role is heading our way with The Iceman, Ariel Vroman’s take on the true life of Richard Kuklinski, the notorious contract killer.

Once the merry-go-round of actors stopped, contracts were signed and production started we had an early poster appear one day (you can see it here) and then this video cropped up online. Looking very much like an extended screen test as opposed to a scene from the movie (Michael Wincott doesn’t appear to be included in the castlist anywhere), it is both sweary and suddenly violent but gives a good impression of Vroman’s handling of the character and Shannon’s chilling turn.

Here’s the poster, let the photoshoppery begin.

A round of yahoos for IMPA.
