Inside-Llewyn-Davis-Teaser-PosterThe Coen brothers make a very welcome return to the big screen this year, following 2010’s acclaimed True Grit, with the much-anticipated Inside Llewyn Davis.

The film will be debuting at the Cannes Film Festival this month, and naturally, things are looking very good for the brothers once more, who have four Oscars to their name.

A terrific first trailer was released earlier this year, when it was looking more and more likely that a Cannes debut would be on the cards. And now Yahoo Movies have released a new red-band trailer and teaser poster ahead of its festival bow.

INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS follows a week in the life of a young folk singer as he navigates the Greenwich Village folk scene of 1961. Guitar in tow, huddled against the unforgiving New York winter, he is struggling to make it as a musician against seemingly insurmountable obstacles — some of them of his own making.

Oscar Isaac leads an all-star cast, joined by Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund, and Adam Driver.

Joel and Ethan Coen are directing once more from their own script (naturally), loosely basing the film on the Dave Van Ronk memoir, The Mayor of MacDougal Street.

The film’s December release date across the Atlantic puts it in a strong position as an early contender for the Oscars early next year. The brothers’ last film, True Grit, earned an impressive ten nominations across the board two years ago, and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how things fare for their follow-up.

Inside Llewyn Davis will be released in the US on December 6th, following its Cannes debut this month. Its UK release date is set for a little later on 24th January, 2014, by which time we should know whether or not the film will be Oscar-bound. For now, here’s the new red-band trailer, which is one not suitable for work.
