Captain PhillipsI was fortunate enough to see some extended footage from this movie a couple of weeks ago and while I cannot tell you what I saw, i can (i think!) tell you that it has to be one of the ones I’m most looking forward to this year! Captain Phillips tells real-life the story of a US Merchant Navy ship which is taken hostage by pirates. It stars Tom Hanks and is directed by the genius that is legendary British filmmaker Paul Greengrass who directed the first three ‘Bourne’ movies and more recently Green Zone all which starred Matt Damon.

Check out the trailer below and I think you’ll be looking forward to it just as much as I am!

In 2009, a crew of Somali pirates seized control of the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama – the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in 200 years. This real-life story has now been adapted into a film, directed by British director Paul Greengrass (the Bourne trilogy, United 93), and starring Tom Hanks as Captain Phillips, who was in charge of the US ship. The film releases later this year

Captain Phillips will be released in the US and UK October 11th.
