Focus Features has released the first trailer for Kasi Lemmons’ biopic on the inspirational abolitionist ‘Harriet’ Tubman played by Cynthia Erivo.
Lemmons takes the helm on the film which tells Tubman’s story of how she escaped slavery and led dozens of enslaved people to freedom on the Underground Railroad in the face of growing pre-Civil War adversity.
Leslie Odom Jr., Janelle Monae, Jennifer Nettles, Joe Alwyn, Vondie Curtis-Hall and Vanessa Bell Calloway star alongside Erivo.

The film has a US release of November 1st.
