There’s less than two weeks on the clock before Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy hits, and they’ve been gearing up brilliantly for what is sure to be saturation marketing in the coming days.

We’ve recently been treated to two trios of posters, the most recent of which teased the villains, and now the studio has launched the first clip, in which we see Chris Pratt introducing himself as Peter Quill / Star-Lord.

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and The Avengers, comes a new team – the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits – Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand – with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

Pratt is joined by an all-star cast, led by Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, Ophelia Lovibond, Peter Serafinowicz, and Benicio del Toro, with Josh Brolin voicing Thanos and Nathan Fillion making a cameo.

James Gunn is of course at the helm, directing from a script first penned by Nicole Perlman and later rewritten by Gunn, himself.

Guardians of the Galaxy hits in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on 31st July in the UK, before touching down stateside on August 1st.
