The first season of Daredevil was downright incredible, and quite possibly 2015’s best comic book adaptation. As a result, anticipation for the show’s return next year is at an all-time high, and now the first official images have been released which feature Matt Murdock and Karen Page getting close, and much more interestingly, Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher.
“People have been coming up to me on the streets of New York saying, ‘Do not mess this up,’” The Walking Dead alum said of the pressures which come with taking on a role which has so far been badly botched on the big screen three times. “This character has resonated with law enforcement and military. He’s brought the war home with him in the worst possible way. And the best thing about him is that if he offends you, he just doesn’t care.”
While The Punisher isn’t rocking the skull logo he’s known for in the image below, it definitely sounds like season two of Daredevil will be providing the most faithful take on him to date.
“He has a different moral code,” co-showrunner Marco Ramirez teases. “Matt is a devout Catholic — and you rarely see a character who’s a devotee anything on TV. Frank has Hammurabi’s Code. It’s like letting a great white shark into the water.” That sounds just about perfect, and we should start hearing more about Daredevil’s return very soon…
