2015 has been a very busy year for movies, and inevitably, that means there have been some disappointments. Some of those listed here were terrible, but others were disappointing for very different reasons.
Perhaps they failed to live up to the hype or just didn’t work, but the point is that all of these movies were major disappointments. Some you may agree with and others you might be horrified to see listed here, but hopefully you’ll at least appreciate where we’re coming from! 10. Black Mass
Looking back at 2015’s movies, it’s fair to say that Black Mass had one of the best casts out of them all. With a Johnny Depp no longer mugging it up as a ridiculously over the top character like Jack Sparrow or, er, Tonto, and names like Benedict Cumberbatch and Joel Edgerton, there were a lot of reasons to think this gangster flick about the fascinating Whitey Bulger would be an Oscar favourite, but that’s far from the case.
While it was certainly nice to see an impressive performance from Depp, the movie itself is very forgettable and only really gives him one or two scenes in which to shine (nowhere near enough to get the attention of the Academy). As a result, Black Mass ended up being a poor man’s Departed.
