Last week we gave you a look at Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s characters in the upcoming sci-fi comedy, Paul. Now, courtesy of BleedingCool, we have the first image of the alien, simply named Paul. It’s a bootleg image, quite possibly taken by someone during Paul’s panel at Comic-Con, where never-before-seen footage was shown.

Paul was directed by Greg Mottola from a script by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, who also star as the titular characters Graeme Willy and Clive Gollings. The comedy also stars Seth Rogan, Jane Lynch, Kristen Wiig, Jason Bateman, Bill Hader and Sigourney Weaver.

The official synopsis is embedded below:

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) reunite for the comedy adventure Paul as two sci-fi geeks whose pilgrimage takes them to America’s UFO heartland. While there, they accidentally meet an alien who brings them on an insane road trip that alters their universe forever.

For the past 60 years, an alien named Paul (voiced by Seth Rogen) has been hanging out at a top-secret military base. For reasons unknown, the space-traveling smart ass decides to escape the compound and hop on the first vehicle out of town—a rented RV containing Earthlings Graeme Willy (Pegg) and Clive Collings (Frost).

Chased by federal agents and the fanatical father of a young woman that they accidentally kidnap, Graeme and Clive hatch a fumbling escape plan to return Paul to his mother ship. And as two nerds struggle to help, one little green man might just take his fellow outcasts from misfits to intergalactic heroes.

Although not much has been revealed about Paul, aside from a few images, it’s shaping up to be one of the best sci-fi / road / buddy comedy films of 2011. Greg Mottola is renowned for his comedic directing, and Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have done no wrong up to now. Combining these talents is sure to cement Paul as one of the most anticipated films of 2011.

Give a warm welcome to Paul:

Paul will by distributed by Universal and is scheduled to hit cinemas on March 18th, 2011.
