Elisabeth Moss has been set to play the role of a real-life killer in a new true-crime limited series ‘Candy’.

The series centres on real-life 1980 Texas axe killer Candy Montgomery, Candy Montgomery was a Texan housewife who had it all – a loving husband, good job, nice house, a daughter and a son. So why did she kill her friend from church with an axe?

Moss will play the role of Candy.

Robin Veith wrote the pilot script and will serve as executive producer on the series. Nick Antosca will serve as executive producer under his banner Eat the Cat banner along with Alex Hedlund. Moss will also serve as executive producer along with Lindsey McManus. Jim Atkinson and John Bloom will serve as consulting producers.

Moss said on the role “it’s been wanting to play an anti-heroine for a while now, and have been trying to work with Robin again after ‘Mad Men’ for even longer, so when she asked me if I wanted to play a housewife from Texas who, some would say, got away with murder, I simply said, ‘Where do I sign?’”

On the big screen, Moss most recently starred in ‘The Invisible Man’ and ‘Shirley’. She also starred in ‘Mad Men’ which earned her an Emmy nomination, She also currently stars in ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’. Her upcoming projects include ‘The French Dispatch’ from Wes Anderson and ‘Next Goal Wins’ by Taika Waititi.
