Eddie Redmayne and Miles Teller are in talks to star in ‘Star One,’ a new spy thriller from director Doug Liman.

The upcoming feature is based on what is being described as an extraordinary true story centred on two vastly different CIA agents forced into an impossible mission behind enemy lines.

According to the official synopsis, Star One follows “two wildly mismatched CIA agents, the first daring and charismatic, and the other, a strait-laced strategist, who must work together to execute a top-secret mission: a treacherous journey across thousands of miles of enemy territory to covertly deliver arms.”

The synopsis continues: “This is the untold true story of the first intelligence star ever awarded for one of the most important yet least known missions in modern history.”

Teller is attached to play the bold and charismatic operative, while Redmayne would portray the more reserved and analytical strategist, creating a classic friction-heavy pairing at the centre of the high-stakes espionage thriller.

Liman, known for action-driven projects including ‘The Bourne Identity,’ ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ and ‘Road House’, will direct from a screenplay written by David Coggeshall.

Producing the film is BAFTA Award nominee P. J. van Sandwijk for Storyteller Productions alongside Project X Entertainment’s William Sherak, James Vanderbilt and Paul Neinstein.

Van Sandwijk previously produced ‘Ferrari,’ while Vanderbilt’s recent credits include ‘Scream 7′ and ‘Nuremberg.’ Neinstein also recently worked on ‘The Night Agent.’
