Disney+ has released the official trailer for ‘Alice and Steve,’ the sharp new six-part “wrong-com” that turns friendship, family, and romance into a beautifully chaotic battlefield.
Starring Nicola Walker, Jemaine Clement, Joel Fry, and Yali Topol Margalith, the Hulu Original series follows a friendship that spectacularly combusts when Alice discovers that her best friend, Steve, has started dating her 26-year-old daughter, Izzy. Cue emotional shrapnel, passive-aggressive warfare, and the kind of tension that could crack a wine glass at twenty paces.
Alice is horrified at the prospect of losing both her daughter and her closest friend in one catastrophic romantic collision. Determined to stop the relationship, she launches a campaign against Steve, who proves more than willing to fight back. What starts as a loving friendship quickly spirals into an all-out feud with everyone’s emotional baggage flung across the runway like unsecured luggage in turbulence.
The series is described as a hilarious, messy, and emotionally tangled anti-romantic comedy exploring friendship, love, revenge, and the uncomfortable truth that sometimes the people closest to us are the ones most capable of detonating our lives. The central question hanging over the series is deliciously simple: how far would you go for love… or revenge?
‘Alice and Steve’ already arrives with serious festival buzz stitched into its cardigan sleeves. The series premiered at CANNESERIES in April, where it received a standing ovation and collected three awards, including Best Series. The show is also set to make its US premiere at the Tribeca Festival next month.
