BBC Three has debuted a trailer for the 6-part comedy-drama based on the award-winning web series of the same name, ‘Dreaming Whilst Black.’

Loosely inspired by real events, it tells the story of Kwabena, a Black British 28-year-old in London who quits his dead-end recruitment job to pursue his dream of becoming a filmmaker. However, he quickly faces the hardships of his decision to try to balance financial security, love-life, family pressures, and his sense of reality while trying to navigate his way through an impermeable industry. Despite these adversities, Kwabena remains determined to chase his dreams.

This half-hour series centres on themes of prejudice, exploitation, and the individual vs society, using cringe comedy to explore these issues through the eyes of a Black creative.
