An exclusive scoop by The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Jonathan Liebesman will be directing the sequel to this year’s box office hit, Clash of the Titans.

Liebesman isn’t a name I’m overly familiar with, but he’s directed two high-profile(ish) horror films (Darkness Falls and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning) previously, and there’s currently good buzz around his big, human vs. aliens action epic Battle: Los Angeles, which is due out early next year.

Cinemagoers that were a little underwhelmed by this year’s first installment in the adventures of Perseus and co. will be please to know that Warner Bros are planning on shooting the film in 3D next time, rather than modifying it in postproduction. It’s also reassuring that one of Green Lantern’s scribes (a film the studio has a great deal of faith in) Greg Berlani has had a hand in writing the new treatment.

Original lead Sam Worthington is due to return, although judging by the current list of films he has in pre-production, I don’t know where he’ll ever find the time to fit this one in!
