Following the success of Disney’s 2015 TV movie Descendants, it felt only right that a second movie would grace our screens and thankfully that’s exactly what happened. This time bigger and better than the first and with some brand new cast members, Descendants 2 is set to hit Disney Channel October 20th at 5.30pm.

We were lucky enough to sit down with new cast member Thomas Doherty (best known for his role in Disney’s The Lodge) and veteran Descendant Booboo Stewart (Jay) to talk about the show and what audiences can expect.

We were also privileged to talk with legendary director and choreographer Kenny Ortega, a man with a resume that could be used in future as part of a lesson in Hollywood history. Kenny started out his career working alongside Gene Kelly in Xanadu, and directed and choreographed Disney’s High School Musical films, as well as Michael Jackson’s This Is It concert.

During the interview with Kenny we talked about the new characters that feature, and Kenny explains that when casting characters for his films, he goes for talent, not experience.

You can see both interviews below. The Booboo / Thomas interview was conducted by Rebecca Herrera & I (Amanda) interviewed Kenny Ortega.

Plot: When the pressure to be royal becomes too much for Mal, she returns to the Isle of the Lost where her archenemy Uma, Ursula’s daughter, has taken her spot as self-proclaimed queen.

Descendants 2 premeres on Friday 20th October at 5.30pm on Disney Channel and DisneyLife.
