By now, you’ve no doubt seen Spectre (it was after all the highest grossing movie of 2015 in the UK until Star Wars: The Force Awakens came along), but if not, stop reading this now!

You’re going to want to take this with a huge pinch of salt given the source, but a new report claims that Oscar winning actor Christoph Waltz is hoping to reprise the role of iconic Bond villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld in the next movie on the condition that Daniel Craig also returns.

The underwhelming reveal that Franz Oberhauser was Blofeld was too predictable and came too late to make any sort of real impact in Spectre, but the stage was definitely set for the villain to return somewhere down the line when Bond made the decision not to kill him at the end of the movie. You also have to believe that there’s a lot more which could be done with the character, and having him escape captivity to bring 007 out of retirement makes sense.

What wouldn’t make all that much sense is not bringing back Daniel Craig, so you can see where Waltz might be coming from here. After all, it would be a little jarring to see the actor returning as Blofeld and going head to head with a completely different actor as James Bond!

Time will tell whether or not this report is accurate, especially as we have no idea how many movies Waltz signed up for (the site claims he wants to return for two more). Oh, and let’s not forget the fact that Craig doesn’t seem remotely interested in reprising the role either!
