Christoph Waltz is known for keeping a tight lid on the roles he takes on. Cast your mind back to before Bond’s Spectre arrived, he vehemently denied that he would be playing the role of Blofeld but then low and behold, there he was.

Well, with the media clutching at straws for a mere slither of information regarding Bond 25, Waltz has yet again been approached as to whether he will be returning as the character. Speaking recently on the red carpet to an Italian magazine the actor denied he would be back citing tradition as the reason.

“No, I’m sorry. I’m really sad, but that’s the tradition, that there is a new…name. Sorry. I would’ve liked to.”

Whether this latest nugget of information is to be believed we will have to wait and find out, but the tradition Waltz is referring to is the fact that no same actor has ever played the role since 1967’s You Only Live Once.

With Daniel Craig to reprise the role of the suave 007 for one last hurrah, we spoke with producer Barbara Broccoli, daughter of former Bond producer Albert Broccoli, at this year’s TIFF about Bond 25, unfortunately, she didn’t give anything away but did air her excitement that Craig would be back.

“We’ve had such incredible people making the films with us, such incredible actors and I’m just so happy that Daniel is back – it’s been a dream come true to get him back.”
