American-Hustle-Character-Poster-Jennifer-Lawrence-sliceJennifer Lawrence is on fire this year, no two ways about it. She kicked things off by picking up her Oscar for her leading performance in Silver Linings Playbook; she’s just topped box offices around the world in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire; and she’ll soon be seen in the hotly anticipated American Hustle, which reunites her with Playbook’s David O. Russell.

Lawrence is just one fifth of the very impressive leading quintet, starring alongside Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, and Jeremy Renner. And with the film’s December release date approaching, Sony has released another great clip in anticipation of its arrival.

A fictional film set in the alluring world of one of the most stunning scandals to rock the States, American Hustle tells the story of brilliant con man Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), who along with his equally cunning and seductive British partner Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams) is forced to work for a wild FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper). DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia that’s as dangerous as it is enchanting. Jeremy Renner is Carmine Polito, the passionate, volatile, New Jersey political operator caught between the con-artists and Feds. Irving’s unpredictable wife Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence) could be the one to pull the thread that brings the entire world crashing down.

Previously titled American Bulls**t, the cast is rounded out by Robert De Niro, Jack Huston, Louis C.K., Michael Peña, Elisabeth Rohm, Dawn Olivieri, and Alessandro Nivola.

Russell is of course also coming off the back of the very well-deserved praise for last year’s Playbook. He’s directing here from a script he co-wrote with Eric Warren Singer (The International), with Megan Ellison and Charles Roven producing, and Bradley Cooper himself executive producing.

American Hustle will open in limited release in the US on December 13th before opening wide on December 18th. Here in the UK, it will have its London debut on 20th December before then expanding across the country on 1st January.
