Marking the return of Oscar-winning filmmaker Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland, One Day in September), following last year’s How I Live Now, Black Sea boasts a stellar leading cast in the form of Jude Law and Scoot McNairy, two of the finest actors of their generation.

The adventure/thriller is just weeks away from hitting the big screen on our shore, and now the first trailer has debuted online, finally giving us a look at a film that has unfortunately been largely absent from the mainstream radar until now.

In order to make good with his former employers, a submarine captain takes a job with a shadowy backer to search the depths of the Black Sea for a sub that’s rumored to be loaded with gold.

Ben Mendelsohn reunites with his Killing Them Softly co-star here, with further support from Jodie Whittaker, Karl Davies, and Michael Smiley.

Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland) directs from a script penned by Dennis Kelly, who makes his feature debut here, having made a big name for himself creating the hit British TV series, Utopia.

Black Sea will be released in the UK on December 5th, a month and a half ahead of its US bow on January 23rd.
