Sky has released the official global trailer for ‘Baywatch,’ bringing the legendary action drama back to screens with a reimagined revival packed with high-stakes rescues, beachside drama and a new generation of lifeguards.
First hitting screens in 1989, ‘Baywatch’ became one of the most-watched television shows in the world, airing in more than 200 countries and reaching more than a billion viewers weekly at its peak. Its sun-soaked blend of action, romance and beachfront heroics helped define beach culture for generations, cementing its place as a global television phenomenon.
Now, the iconic franchise is ready to make a splash once again, retaining the adrenaline-fuelled rescues, complicated relationships and tangled chemistry that made the original a worldwide hit, while introducing a fresh cast, contemporary challenges and a renewed mission to protect Southern California’s coastline.
The new series centres on Hobie Buchannon, played by ‘Arrow’ star Stephen Amell. Now a Baywatch Captain, Hobie is following in the footsteps of his legendary father, Mitch. However, his world is turned upside down when his daughter, Charlie Vale (Jessica Belkin), unexpectedly arrives on his doorstep, determined to continue the Buchannon family legacy and join the ranks of the lifeguards.
Alongside Amell and Belkin, the series stars Hassie Harrison as Nat, Shay Mitchell as Trina, Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad, Noah Beck as Luke and Brooks Nader as Selene.
The revival will also bring back familiar faces from the original series. Livvy Dunne will make her acting debut as Grace in a recurring role, while David Chokachi reprises his role as Cody Madison. Erika Eleniak will also return as Shauni McClain, appearing as a guest star.
‘Baywatch’ is co-produced by Fremantle and FOX Entertainment, with Matt Nix (Burn Notice, The Gifted) serving as showrunner and executive producer. Executive producers also include McG, Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto and Mike Horowitz.
