Rian Johnson’s Looper hits theatres this Friday, and has been garnering strong critical acclaim since its debut at TIFF – you can read our own review here.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, and Emily Blunt take the lead in what promises to be the action/sci-fi film of the year, and now a brilliant new animated trailer has landed online, courtesy of Apple.

“In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination.

The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. Ram Bergman and James D. Stern produce.”

Johnson, who reunites with Gordon-Levitt after his acclaimed debut, Brick, is directing once more from his own script, with Jeff Daniels, Paul Dano, Piper Perabo, Noah Segan, and Garrett Dillahunt completing the cast nicely.

We recently got to interview Rian Johnson about the film, and you can watch that interview right here. And be sure to check back tomorrow for our sit-down with Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Looper is hitting the big screen in the UK and US this Friday, 28th September, and I cannot wait to see how it all unfolds. It promises to be one of the best films of the year, and has a brilliant marketing campaign over the past few months, and it looks utterly immense. Here’s the great new trailer to raise your anticipation. Enjoy.

Since graduating, I spend as much time as possible watching films/TV shows, reading books, and listening to music. So getting to write about what I love is nothing short of awesome. Biggest film-related hope for 2014/ever: Guy Ritchie announcing the RocknRolla sequel is finally moving forward.
