It seems that Brazilian cinema is currently thriving, and another example of the nation’s wave of creativity comes in the form of Gabriel Mascaro’s The Blue Trail. To mark the film’s release in the UK & Ireland on April 17th, we had the pleasure in speaking to legendary actor Rodrigo Santoro, to discuss the making of this singular production.

In this interview Santoro discusses his dream experience filming in the Amazon, while also digging deep into the character’s back-story and purpose. He talks about the unique challenges that come with playing such an impactful role who has limited screen-time, and on his illustrious career in general. He speaks about his passion for his craft, and why that fire in his belly has never gone away – and vitally, he hopes, never will. We also speak about the current state of Brazilian cinema and he looks ahead to a project that should prick the ears of both film & football fans, as he plays Joao Saldanha in Netflix series Brazil ’70: The Third Star, coming to screens later this year.
