Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon has made it clear that he doesn’t intend to return to helm the two-part Avengers: Infinity War, and it’s been reported a number of times that Joe and Anthony Russo (the directors of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and 2016’s Civil War) will take over the franchise from him.

Well, the ever reliable Deadline claims to have now “confirmed” that it’s a done deal – there’s still no press release from Marvel though – and say the brothers will helm both parts of the epic sounding Infinity War.

Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 is scheduled to be released on May 4th, 2018, and the second instalment will reach us on May 3rd, 2019. It’s believed that this will be the culmination of everything Marvel has been building towards as The Avengers (and possibly the Guardians of the Galaxy) finally take on Thanos.

It’s unclear how this will impact the Russo’s plans to helm the male-led Ghostbusters spinoff starring Channing Tatum, but they’ll likely try to squeeze it in after Civil War and before this epic two parter.
