Just seconds before our interview with Mexican filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu begun, last year’s Academy Award winner (for Birdman) was informed that of The Revenant’s Golden Globe nominations. Needless to say he was thrilled when told, despite the fact that, at that point, he had no idea the film would go on to pick up the top prize at the annual ceremony.
We naturally discussed the nominations, as well as Leonardo DiCaprio’s chances of winning an Oscar himself, while also speaking about the impressive sound design, and immersive nature to this brutal piece of indelible cinema.
