The first set of images from Disney’s ‘Aladdin’ reboot with Britain’s own Guy Ritchie at the helm have surfaced thanks to Entertainment Weekly‘s cover story.

It’s been no secret that this reboot’s pulling power is the one and only, Instagram breaking, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Will Smith as the not so blue Genie. The rest of the cast consists of Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmin, Marwan Kenzari as Jafar, Navid Negahban as the Sultan, Nasim Pedrad as handmaiden Dalia, Billy Magnussen as Prince Anders, and Numan Acar as palace guards head Hakim.

For those up in arms that Smith’s Genie wasn’t, in fact, the traditional blue of the animated version, Smith confirmed online that he will be blue once the finishes touches have been put on the film.

Directed by Ritchie from a screenplay adapted by John August, The part musical will feature a score from Alan Menken alongside a number of original songs re-recorded plus two new numbers Menken co-wrote with Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

The film is released in the UK in May 2019.
