Agents-of-S.H.I.E.L.D.-PosterDebuting on ABC in just over a month and a half, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. marks the beloved Marvel Cinematic Universe’s arrival on the small screen.

Beginning with Jon Favreau’s Iron Man back in 2008, the studio reached new levels of recognition last year when Joss Whedon’s The Avengers became the third-highest-grossing film of all time, and won critics’ favour alongside audiences’.

It wasn’t long before talk turned to a new direction for Whedon and the studio, with the former making a long-awaited return to the small screen with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. And with just a matter of weeks left on the countdown, Whedon and co. took to Twitter last night to reveal the official poster for the upcoming programme.

Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson’s team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) expert pilot and martial artist, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); brilliant engineer and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet).

Clark Gregg makes a very welcome return, reprising his role from the movies (#CoulsonLives), and he stars alongside Ming-Na Wen, Brett Dalton, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, and Chloe Bennet, with J. August Richards returning to work with Whedon once more.

Whedon has helmed the pilot, and co-written the script with past collaborators Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, who revealed the final piece of the puzzle in the early hours of this morning.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will air on ABC on Tuesday, September 24th, playing at 8/7c. No word yet on when or where we can look forward to it in the UK, but hopefully we’ll be seeing it on our screens soon too.

Since graduating, I spend as much time as possible watching films/TV shows, reading books, and listening to music. So getting to write about what I love is nothing short of awesome. Biggest film-related hope for 2014/ever: Guy Ritchie announcing the RocknRolla sequel is finally moving forward.
