RoboCop and Sucker Punch star Abbie Cornish has reportedly signed on to take on the female lead in Amazon’s upcoming Jack Ryan television series opposite John Krasinski.

Cornish is set to take on the role of Cathy Mueller, a doctor who specialises in infectious diseases and will be the love interest for Krasinski’s Jack Ryan. In the show, a reinvention of Clancy’s hero, Ryan is an up-and-coming CIA analyst who has to takes on his first dangerous field assignment and becomes ensconced in a “new breed of terrorism.”

Based on the novels of Tom Clancy, the new show comes from Lost co-showrunner Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland (The Returned) and is being produced by Michael Bay’s company Platinum Dunes, amongst others.

Jack Ryan first made it to the big-screen in 1990’s The Hunt for Red October with Alec Baldwin in the lead. Harrison Ford took over the role for Patriot Games (1992) and Clear and Present Danger (1994) before a prequel/reboot story, 2002’s The Sum of All Fears, saw Ben Affleck in the role.

Most recently, Chris Pine (Star Trek Beyond) took over the role in 2014’s Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.

The 10-episode show is set to air in 2017.
