This still from Jon Favreau’s Cowboys & Aliens first appeared at Comic-Con and has been doing the rounds (here and everywhere else) ever since. To his credit, Favreau is pretty good at keeping everyone up to date with his progress on the film, mostly via his Twitter feed (http://twitter.com/jon_favreau).

Now, actor Noah Ringer (www.twitter.com/TheNoahRinger) is getting in on the game and has tweeted a new on set photo of one of the western sets featured in the film.

Noah Ringer plays Emmett in Cowboys & Aliens, alongside Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford in this tale of disparate folk in a frontier town joining forces to fight off an alien invasion. Thanks to /Film for the initial heads-up on this story, as well as the following detailed synopsis:-

1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don’t welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It’s a town that lives in fear. But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.

Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he’s been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Olivia Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents—townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors—all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.

Dave has been writing for HeyUGuys since mid-2010 and has found them to be the most intelligent, friendly, erudite and insightful bunch of film fans you could hope to work with. He's gone from ham-fisted attempts at writing the news to interviewing Lawrence Bender, Renny Harlin and Julian Glover, to writing articles about things he loves that people have actually read. He has fairly broad tastes as far as films are concerned, though given the choice he's likely to go for Con Air over Battleship Potemkin most days. He's pretty sure that 2001: A Space Odyssey is the most overrated mess in cinematic history.
