Child 44
Why we’re looking forward to it: Even though we’re yet to see an iota of footage from Child 44, this is one of those films that looks to have all the right ingredients. Directed by Daniel Espinosa – whose previous credits include Easy Money and Safe House – and adapted from Tom Rob Smith’s novel of the same name, the film will tell the story of disgraced Soviet officer Leo Stepanovich Demidov who is sent to investigate a series of child murders.
With this intriguing plot setup and talent such as Charles Dance, Noomi Rapace and Dark Knight Trilogy alumni Gary Oldman and Tom Hardy attached, we’re mildly surprised this isn’t being billed as an awards contender. Still, the impressive pedigree makes it one to watch next year.
