Minions
Why we’re looking forward to it: It’s a great time to be a popular supporting character in an animated feature right now. The penguins of Madagascar have a spin-off film coming out later this year, Finding Dory will be on the big screens in 2016 and The LEGO Batman Movie has already been scheduled for a 2017 release.
In 2015 it will be the turn of the minions, the lovable henchmen from the Despicable Me series. The second film in that franchise was a box office behemoth (grossing $970 million worldwide) and on many occasions Gru’s pals threatened to steal the show. Now the spotlight’s fully on them, and though this could be taken as a cash-grab, the recently released trailer is full of the endearing goofiness we’ve come to appreciate over their past two appearances. Hopefully it won’t be too much of a good thing.
