X-Men-Days-of-Future-Past-WheelchairsBryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past is naturally one of 2014’s most anticipated blockbusters. The film follows on from the impressively successful X-Men: First Class, which rebooted the franchise brilliantly back in 2011.

Singer has been updating us bit by bit in recent months about the increasingly immense cast, and now he’s taken to Twitter once more to share an image of two familiar chairs.

Whilst the plot details remain officially under wraps, we know that the film is based on the original arc of the same name, involving two timelines:

“Days of Future Past is a classic storyline that unfolded in two issues of Marvel Comics’ Uncanny X-Men in 1981, from writer Chris Claremont and artists John Byrne and Terry Austin. The story was partially set in an alternate future where surviving mutants have been penned in concentration camps, giant robots called Sentinels patrol America, and most of the X-Men have been hunted and killed. In the present day, the X-Men were forced to stop a key event from unfolding in order to keep that future from occurring.”

It will include the casts of both the original X-Men films and the First Class reboot, and the potential prospect of James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart meeting each other in these chairs is utterly awesome. Whether or not they will actually meet in the film of course remains to be seen, but the possibility is a great one to contemplate.

McAvoy and Stewart star alongside an amazing ensemble, so far headed up by Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult from X-Men: First Class, and Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Ellen Page, Anna Paquin, and Shawn Ashmore from the original films. And to top it all off, Peter Dinklage has recently signed on to play the villain.

Singer will be back at the helm in place of Matthew Vaughn, directing from a script co-written by Vaughn, Jane Goldman, and Simon Kinberg.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is already scheduled for release on 18th July, 2014, making it one of the most prominent blockbusters of next year. Shooting is set to begin this April, and hopefully we can look forward to a few more teases from Singer through the course of production, as well as leading up to it and after. This is pretty much guaranteed to be amazing.
