Vicky Jewson is a 29-year old filmmaker following up her divisive debut (an update of the Lady Godiva story) with an action revenge thriller and we’re pleased to be able to bring you the first look at the new trailer for Born of War.

Making her name with the TV show Skins Sofia Black-D’Elia takes the lead here in this tall tale of a terrorist’s family dealing with the fallout on his unmasking. As you’ll see in the trailer the action makes up a fair portion of the film, and it’s a pleasure to see a young actress propelling the action for a change.

Shear Entertainment have picked up the film for release in cinemas with Lionsgate handling the digital and Home Entertainment release, the film is out on the 1st of May with the DVD/Blu-ray release on the 18th of May.

While we wait here’s the first look at this new trailer.

Synopsis hounds, feast on this:

Mina (Sofia Black D’Elia), a young college student, has her life ripped away after her family is killed.

When she finds out their murders were part of a botched kidnapping to return her to her real father — a terrorist in the Middle East — Mina works with British Intelligence to take him down…and take control of her life again. But she quickly learns that there are two sides to every story.

Mina’s quest for retribution and unsteady alliance with the MI5 throws her into the war-torn Middle East. Under the strict supervision of hardened mercenary Simon (James Frain) Mina finds herself on a journey to discover her own inherent violence.
