It feels like it’s been a while since we got any superhero movie casting news, but this is a good one! Variety reveals that Person of Interest actor (and relative newcomer) Winston Duke has landed the key role of the villainous M’Baku, a.k.a. Man-Ape in Black Panther.

Little is known about how the character will factor into the movie as of right now, but in the comic books, M’Baku is a worshipper of the sacred White Gorilla who was exiled from Wakanda because of his actions in leading the cult and betraying The Black Panther. A sacred ritual gives him apelike strength, agility and stamina, earning him the name Man-Ape.

The impressive cast of Black Panther so far includes Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan,  Danai Gurira, and Lupita Nyong’o. Creed director Ryan Coogler will helm the movie and is currently penning the screenplay alongside Joe Robert Cole. It’s set to be released on February 16th, 2018, with production expected to begin next year at some point.

The trade adds that Marvel has been testing a number of actors for the role, including The Get Down’s Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Duke only recently graduated from the Yale School of Drama, but has made appearances in TV shows like Major Crimes and The Messengers.
