When Daniel Lindsay, T.J. Martin’s film beat out Wim Wenders, Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky to win the 2012 Academy Award for Best documentary it was considered something of an upset and the parallels of this victory to the subject matter of their film are all too obvious.

The story of the misfires and misfortunes of the Tennessee based Manassas Tigers captivated the Academy and on the 3rd of August we here in the UK will have our chance to take in the film as Lindsay and Martin’s documentary is released.

Though the easy comparison of The Blind Side, itself an Oscar winner in 2010, offers a flavour of what’s in store this is the story of how coach Bill Courtney took on the near-impossible task of leading a bottom-place football team to their first win. Inspiration guaranteed.
