Last week saw production begin on the much-awaited Tom Cruise sequel, Top Gun: Maverick. Now sources at The Wrap say that Val Kilmer has signed on the dotted line to also return to the film to reprise his role of Tom “Iceman” Kazansky.

The follow up to Tony Scott’s 1986 action outing will see Cruise return as Maverick, who has never lost that loving feeling for his need for speed, is set to return as a flight instructor to a whole host of young Geese, Icemen and Mavericks wanting to follow in his almighty flight footsteps. Iceman, in the original, was a very worthy rival of Maverick’s with his death-defying stunts through the air. No further plot details have as yet unsurfaced.
