Scribe of Snow White and the Huntsman, Evan Spiliotopoulos, will write the script for an adaptation of the Atari video game, Asteroids, THR confirmed this week.

Screenwriter Evan Spiliotopoulos has been hired to work on the script for producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers: Dark of the Moon) and Universal Studios, who outbid other suitors for film rights two years ago, which Matt Lopez (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice) originally worked on.

The plotline for the film adaptation of the late-70s video game has evolved into the story of two estranged brothers that must team up to save Earth from an alien race.

I never thought I would see the day, but this actually sounds like it could work.

Universal also has Battleship, inspired by a Hasbro board game, hitting theaters in May, and Spiliotopoulos’ Snow White And The Huntsman hits theaters in June.
