Two great new images from the upcoming Paul W.S. Anderson-directed The Three Musketeers, due out on 14th October this year, have surfaced over at ComingSoon.net, which you can see below.

The first official trailer came out about a month ago, and impressed greatly.

The story of the musketeers is over 150 years old, first published in serialised form back in March – July 1844 by Alexandre Dumas. And whilst there have been many film adaptations of the story over the years, none of them have looked anywhere near as good as Anderson’s take on it. Quite simply, the trailer is epic, and I cannot wait for October to roll around.

The three musketeers will be played by Matthew Macfadyen (Athos), Luke Evans (Aramis), and Ray Stevenson (Porthos), with the younger Logan Lerman playing the part of d’Artagnan (often mistaken for one of the original three). The film will also star Milla Jovovich, Anderson’s wife, as Milady de Winter, Orlando Bloom as the Duke of Buckingham, and Christoph Waltz as Cardinal Richelieu.

In The Three Musketeers, the hot-headed young D’Artagnan joins forces with three rogue Musketeers. They must stop the evil Richlieu and face off with Buckingham and the treacherous Milady.

In short, the film looks amazing, and I can already feel that it’s going to be nestling quite high in my top films of 2011. For now, though, here are those two pictures. The first shows (from left to right) Stevenson, Macfadyen, Logan, and Evans all dressed for the part, and the second sees Jovovich’s Milady kissing the proffered hand of Waltz’s Cardinal.
