The period drama Tulip Fever has been raising a few questions about its very existence among critics after a lengthy delay has stopped the production. However but a second trailer has finally arrived in time for its US release.

Starring the lead from the Tomb Raider reboot, Alicia Vikander and Christoph Waltz, the trailer is a steamy affair of lust and betrayal in amongst 17th-century women and the bullying men that drive them to it.

Tulip Fever

The film has been pushed back a number of times. Its original release date was July 15th, 2016 but has been put on the back burner four times, It is now due for a US release on the 1st of September, no UK release date has been confirmed.

Based on the novel by Deborah Moggach, Tulip Fever is directed by The Other Boleyn Girl’s Justin Chadwick and adapted by Tom Stoppard. It also consists of an all-star cast including Alicia Vikander, Christoph Waltz, Dane DeHaan, Judi Dench, Zack Galifianakis, Holliday Grainger, Jack O’Connell, Tom Hollander and Cara Delevingne.

Tulip Fever Synopsis

Set against the backdrop of the 17th-century Tulip Wars, a married noblewoman (Alicia Vikander) has an affair with an artist (Dane DeHaan) and switches identities with her maid to escape the wealthy merchant she married. She and her lover try to raise money together by investing what little they have in the high-stakes tulip market.
