The-Voices-Teaser-Poster-sliceThe Voices marks the Oscar-nominated Marjane Satrapi’s first film to be fully in the English language, making its debut out at Sundance over the weekend.

Ryan Reynolds leads a great cast in the comedy crime-thriller, and its genre blend combined with its synopsis below is enough to pique our interest. Following its bow out in Park City, the first teaser poster has launched over on Collider, giving us a tease of the murderous and comedic acts to come.

Jerry is a seemingly normal man trying to succeed in his new job at the Milton Bathtub Factory. He lives in a normal apartment—the type you would expect from a young bachelor—with his dog, Bosco, and his cat, Mr. Whiskers. Yet something seems off. As the new guy at work, Jerry is asked to help plan the company picnic, and he meets Fiona, an attractive English girl from accounting. Jerry immediately takes a liking to Fiona and excitedly goes home to tell his pets about her. And surprisingly, they answer. But all this is just the beginning of an insanely bizarre and twisted tale.

Reynolds is joined by Anna Kendricks and Gemma Arterton, completing the leading trio very nicely, with Jacki Weaver joining them for the ride.

Satrapi (Persepolis, Chicken with Plums) directs from a script by Michael R. Perry (Paranormal Activity 2, The River), with Adi Shankar (Lone Survivor), Roy Lee (The Departed), Spencer Silna (Killing Them Softly), and Matthew Rhodes (Southland Tales) producing.

No word yet on when we can expect to see The Voices arrive in cinemas, but with all the talent involved, and the promise of a genre-bending tale, we’ll hope it’s sooner rather than later.
