Two of America’s finest contemporary crime-thriller writers are set to team up for what is already sounding like an incredibly promising project.

Chuck Hogan, author of Prince of Thieves (the novel adapted into Ben Affleck’s Oscar-nominated The Town), and Don Winslow, author of Savages (adapted into Oliver Stone’s upcoming film of the same name), will be working together to pen the script of an as-yet-untitled contemporary crime-thriller, Deadline report.

“The plot revolves around two men who inevitably collide, amidst a host of supporting characters. Winslow and Hogan will each focus on one of the characters and meld the plot.”

Shane Salerno, Winslow’s co-writer on adapting Savages for the big screen, will be producing, and will bring the script to studios once Winslow and Hogan have finished penning it.

(To give you an idea of what to expect from Winslow’s Savages, you can catch the first trailer here.)

Given the brilliant talent attached to The Town (Affleck, Jeremy Renner, Jon Hamm, Blake Lively, Rebecca Hall) and Savages (Lively, Taylor Kitsch, Aaron Johnson, Benicio del Toro, John Travolta, Emile Hirsch, Salma Hayek, Demían Bichir, and Uma Thurman), it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to hope for a fantastic line-up on this upcoming project.

We’ve no doubt got some time to go before the final product arrives on the big screen, but the prospect of Hogan and Winslow working together is enough to get excited about already. My anticipation levels are already set to full. Expect immensity, and nothing less. I can’t wait. More as we get it.
