‘Avengers: Endgame’ helmers Joe and Anthony Russo just can’t keep away from the world of comics, the filmmaking duo are set to produce a documentary series highlighting the Marvel Vs. DC rivalry.
Inspired by Reed Tucker’s book ‘Slugfest: Inside the Epic, 50-year Battle Between Marvel and DC.‘, the series will explore the heated rivalry between the two comic publishers which transformed the marketplace from Marvel going from obscurity to dominating the cinemas of today, to DC with its big film success in the 80s and 90s along with some recent hits and major footprint in television with no less than six live-action series on the air.
The documentary, which will air on streaming service Quibi, will highlight little-known stories of the men and women who were behind the creation of some of the best-known and most revered characters in the world will share their stories and reflect on the symbiotic relationship between DC and Marvel, whose rivalry pushed the medium to its greatest heights.
The series features the stories of the remarkable behind-the-scenes endeavours and achievements that defined these industry titans, from the secret crossover inspired by the Halloween parades of small-town Rutland, Vermont, to the history behind the bone-crushing handshake between Superman and Spider-Man, in the first official crossover.
Don Argott and Sheena M. Joyce (‘Believer,’ ‘Framing John DeLorean’) have signed on the dotted line to take the helm on the series. Todd Makurath, Peter Rieveschl, Nick Gilhool and Jen Casey will also produce alongside the Russo Brothers.
