Mark Wahlberg has entered into final negotiations to join Travis Knight’s video game adaptation ‘Uncharted’.

Wahlberg would join Tom Holland who takes on the role as the lead Nathan Drake.

Travis will direct the film which follows Nathan Drake, a treasure hunter who journeys across the world to uncover various historical mysteries. Wahlberg will portray Victor “Sully” Sullivan, an American treasure hunter, fortune seeker and businessman, as well as a friend, mentor and father figure to Drake.

Rafe Judkins is penning the script alongside Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.

Charles Roven and Alex Gartner are producing the film through Atlas Entertainment, as well as Avi Arad and Ari Arad through Arad Productions. Sony’s PlayStation Productions — headed by Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan — will also have a hand in producing.

The film has been in development for a number of years with Wahlberg initially lined up to play Drake. But with the passing years, it appears age has been a major factor in casting of the male lead.  At that point, David O. Russell was on board to direct.

Wahlberg was last seen in the comedy ‘Instant Family’ alongside Rose Byrne and ‘Mile 22’ in which he teamed up again with director Peter Berg. His upcoming projects include Netflix thriller ‘Wonderland’ (reuniting with Berg again) alongside Alan Arkin, and ‘Good Joe Bell’ starring opposite Connie Britton. He also provides the voice of Blue Falcon in ‘Scoob!’
