The Revenant has had a wonderful night at the Golden Globes coming away with the three top awards at the Los Angeles event.

The Golden Globes is the first big awards ceremony which starts to point towards who may take the coveted Academy Award later in the year. Leondaro Di Caprio has never won an Oscar after being nominated 4 times prior for roles in The Wolf of Wall Street, Blood Diamond, The Aviator and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape in 1993. His role in The Revenant could finally be the chance to him to take the award that many believe he should have previously won.

The Revenant (directed by ) walked away with Best performance by an actor in a motion picture, drama for DiCaprio, Best Director for Alejandro González Iñárritu (whose film Birdman walked away with Best Film at the 2015 Academy Awards) and Best Film.

The Martian also picked up an award for Best Comedy or Musical Film with Matt Damon also taking an award for ‘Best performance by an actor in a motion picture, musical or comedy’ while Brie Larson took ‘best actress in a drama’ for her amazing role in Room.

Jennifer Lawrence took the award for ‘Best performance by an actress in a motion picture, musical or comedy’ for her role in the movie Joy while Kate Winslet won the best supporting role for her porytral of Joanna Hoffman in Danny Boyles movie ‘Steve Jobs.

The full list of winners (and i guess losers) is listed below with the winner in bold. The 88th Academy Awards 28th February and our very own 69th British Academy Film Awards take place the week prior on 14th February. The awards ceremony has begun people!
