We’re just a few months out from seeing The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones reach theatres, and things are looking good for what promises to be a real franchise-starter for Sony this year.
The studio don’t have that many film franchises in their corner, particularly in the young-adult market, and it will be interesting to see how City of Bones fares when it hits this August.
We saw an impressive new full-length trailer land last month, giving us a great glimpse at the upcoming action/fantasy blockbuster. And now MSN have debuted the new UK quad poster.
Set in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray (Lily Collins), discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother (Lena Headey), Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures. Based on the worldwide best-selling book series.
Lily Collins takes the young lead here as Clary Fray. And she’s joined by a great cast, headed up by Jamie Campbell Bower (Twilight), Lena Headey (Dredd 3D), Robert Sheehan (Misfits), Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Match Point), Jared Harris (Mad Men), Kevin Durand (Smokin’ Aces), and Kevin Zegers (Gossip Girl).
Harald Zwart (2010’s The Karate Kid) is directing from a script by I. Marlene King (Pretty Little Liars) and Jessica Postigo (the upcoming Tarzan), based on the original novel by Cassandre Clare.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones will be released on August 23rd in the US and UK.
